Spanish Language Immersion in Mexico
DAY 1: USA | MEXICO
Fly to Mérida, Mexico.
¡Bienvenidos a Mexico! Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your bilingual Forum Tour Manager who will be by your side, dedicated to your group while on tour.

DAY 2: MÉRIDA
Have breakfast at the hotel.
Attend Spanish classes from 8am to 11am.
This afternoon, discover Mérida on foot. Follow your Tour Manager as you explore the Centro Historico, marvel at the Catedral de Merida, walk down the Paseo de Montejo and finally end at the beautiful, Monumento a la Patria – a landmark that depicts 300 hand-carved figures, that chronicle 700 years of Mexican history from the Mayans to modern day.
Then, head to the Merida Mayan Museum for a guided-tour, and take in the thousands of ancient Mayan/Aztec artifacts, art, and history the museum has to offer.

DAY 3: MÉRIDA
Have breakfast at your hotel.
Attend Spanish classes fro 8am to 11am.
This afternoon, take a tour of one of Méridas many lively food markets, and sample fruits and snacks that define Yucatecan culture and cuisine.
Then, use all the knowledge you learned on your market tour, and participate in a hands on cooking class! Be wise, as this will be your dinner!

DAY 4: MÉRIDA | UXMAL
Have breakfast at your hotel.
Attend Spanish classes from 8am to 11am.
This afternoon, transfer to the archeological site of Uxmal, to discover its most famous temple “La Casa del Adivino” and learn about another Mayan era, their culture and traditions, and the way they used to live.

DAY 5: MÉRIDA | IZAMAL
Have breakfast at your hotel.
Attend Spanish classes from 8am to 11am.
This afternoon, visit one of Mexicos Pueblos Mágicos – Izamal, also known as the City of the Three Cultures. The focal point of this historical yellow city, is the Convento de San Antonio de Padua – once a Mayan ceremonial center, it is now a place for Christian pilgrims.

DAY 5: MÉRIDA | CHICHEN ITZA | VALLADOLID
Have breakfast at your hotel.
Attend Spanish classes from 8am to 11am.
This afternoon, you’ll head to the most important Mayan ruin of the Yucatán Peninsula, and one of the best-preserved archaeological sites in the world: Chichen Itza, also known as “One of the New 7 Wonders of the World“. A local guide will help you explore ancient Mayan culture, and visit the several buildings, like the Warriors’ Temple “El Castillo” and the circular observatory, known as “El Caracol”.
Spend some time swimming in a crystal clear water, Cenote. While freshwater sinkholes can be found all over the world, the ones in the Yucatan Peninsula are unique due to large number found in the area.
Continue on to the colonial town of Valladolid. Have dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 7 – VALLADOLID | LAS COLORADAS | RIO LAGARTOS | VALLADOLID
Have an early breakfast at your hotel, and depart towards the northeast of the Peninsula, towards Las Coloradas, the pink sea of the Yucatan. The color of the water is due to the high concentration of salt that sits at the bottom. Take a boat tour of the Rio Lagartos lagoon, stopping at the most interesting sites of the reserve, including the Rose Flamingo Sanctuary!
Then, make your way to one of Yucatan’s least explored archaeological sites. Ek Balam, is the Yucatec Maya name for “Black Jaguar” (one of the most important symbols in the Mayan culture). With over 45 structures and temples to climb and explore – it is one of the largest pre-Hispanic structures in Mesoamerica.

Day 8 – VALLADOLID | COBA | CANCUN
Have breakfast at your hotel.
This morning, go on a guided tour of the Coba ruins. The largest pyramid at Coba is 138 feet tall and was once the heart of this Mayan city. Climb the 120 steps to the top, and enjoy an impressive view of the surrounding jungle.
Continue on to the Mayan Community of Pac-Chen where you can meet descendants keeping their pre-Hispanic culture alive. Enjoy an unforgettable experience paddling on a beautiful lagoon located in the middle of the jungle.
Continue on to Cancun for the evening. Dinner and night accommodation at your hotel.
Day 9 – CANCUN | USA
Have breakfast at your hotel.
Catch your flight back home. Hasta Luego Mexico!
